Initiatives

GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries Resident’s Fund™- This general fund collects donations in support of resident’s personal, social and community needs. Non-designated financial donations are placed in this account to assist with individual personal needs, social events and community activities. As the Wesley Living population increases, the balance of this fund will have to grow to meet the expanding needs.

Move-In Kit- A Move-In Kit provides all the daily use items and a resident specific starter supply of food needed to start a home. All this effort turns a homeless senior’s newfound shelter into sanctuary! Move-In Kits cost approximately $300.00 for all the household items and food.

Here are the items included: Move-In Kit

Endowment Fund- The Endowment Fund represents a “permanent” gift to GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries. Financial donations or gifts of financial instruments designated for the Endowment Fund become a permanent contribution. By Board of Trustees policy, the principle of this fund may not be withdrawn. Only income generated from the fund may be used for the operation of GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries. A gift to the Endowment Fund leaves a lasting legacy for the donor.

Rev. Jerry Corlew Homeless Interventions- This program was established by a donation from an anonymous donor to assist with the assimilation of homeless seniors moving into Wesley Living communities. Funds from this account are used to acquire basic furniture, household goods and essentials, personal care items and food. These items help turn a homeless senior’s newfound shelter into a sanctuary. Future funding ensures our ability to keep up with the ever-increasing numbers of homeless seniors. Contributions to this initiative also extend the reach and scope of GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries Resident’s Fund

Operations- 100% of all donations (unless otherwise designated) go directly to assisting seniors served by GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries. Operational expenses are covered by the GOLDEN CROSS Senior Ministries Board of Trustees, contributions from staff and Wesley Living employees, growth from the endowment and net proceeds from the Annual Golf Classic. Operational expenses have been covered this way for over 20 years. Donations can be made to help cover Operational expenses, if noted properly.

Personal Support Services Scholarship Fund- Initially established by a grant from The Durham Foundation, these funds are used to provide needed personal care support to the frailest of our residents. These residents cannot qualify for state assistance, have extremely limited financial resources and little or no family support. Personal Support Services include light housekeeping, bathing and personal care. Of the Shelby County, TN residents considered “frail”, 10% are currently being served. Future funding will expand the reach of this program to include more “frail” residents and include residents outside of Shelby County, TN.
